The history of Yongsan Baptist Church began in 1988. It was established November 2, 1988 by U.S Army Major Mike Hall. Prior to the establishment of YBC there was no English-speaking fundamental Baptist Church in the city of Seoul. Brother Hall was lay pastor of YBC for its first two years.
Later several other good men including Brother Bill Ecton and Brother Dave Lewis pastored YBC for many years. For all those years, Yongsan Baptist was church home for English speaking expatriates. YBC principally served U.S. service men and women. In early 2013 Brother Dave Lewis was led to go to Songtan City and start the Victory Baptist Church near Osan Airbase. Also, the Yongsan Army Garrison in Seoul was drawing down toward an eventual closure 2020.
The leadership of YBC extended a call to veteran Missionary Robert Oetman to lead them from the transition of having a membership primarily of U.S.Service men to becoming an international congregation. Pastor Oetman’s testimony is available on our leadership page. In 2014, YBC moved from Itaewon to its present location in Changpa-dong near the Sookmyung Women’s University.
YBC now conducts all services in both English and Korean. God has further blessed us with a dynamic ministry team. Also serving YBC are Pastor Kim Hyung-hun, and Pastor Ernie Imsand. More information about those ministering can be found on our leadership page.

용산침례교회는 미 육군 마이크 홀 소령에 의해
1988년 11월2일에 창립되었습니다.
용산침례교회가 설립되기 전에는 영어를 사용하는 근본주의적인 침례교회가 서울에 없었습니다.
홀 형제님은 용산침례교회의 첫 두 해 동안에 평신도 목사였습니다.
그 이후에 빌 액톤 이나 데이비드 루이스를 포함한 다른 좋은 분들이 오랫동안 용산침례교회를 목양했습니다.
그 모든 기간 동안에 용산침례교회는 고국을 떠난 영어 사용자들 특히 남녀 미군 분들의 집과 같은 교회였습니다.
2013년 초에 데이비드 루이스 목사님은 송탄으로 인도함을 받아 오산공군 기지 근처에서 승리침례교회를 시작했습니다.
또한 서울에 있는 용산 미군 기지는
2020년에 궁극적으로 완전히 없어질 예정이었습니다.
용산침례교회는 교회의 주 멤버가 미군에서 여러나라 사람들로 바뀌는 과정에서 로버트 우트만 선교사님이 교회를 이끌도록 청빙 했습니다.
2014년에 용산침례교회는 이태원에서 현재의 숙명여대근처의 청파동으로 옮겨왔습니다.
용산침례교회는 현재 교회의 모든 예배를 영어와 한국어로 진행하고 있습니다.
